Today starts National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. As we know, our industry serves a vital role in the United States economy. Trucks deliver nearly 70% of all freight tonnage, and more than 80% of communities depend solely on trucking for deliveries of their goods. One out of every 16 people working in the United States is employed in a trucking-related job, and 3.4 million of those are commercial drivers.
Boyle Transportation is making a $2,500 donation to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. We were all moved by the scenes of devastation in the Houston area, by the heroic rescue efforts of first responders and neighbors and by the resolve of those affected to put their lives back together.
