Boston, MA.  April 22, 2014.
On Earth Day 2014, Boyle Transportation received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2014 Environmental Merit Award at Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall.
Andrew Boyle, Executive Vice President, was introduced by Abby Swaine, who manages the EPA’s SmartWay and Clean Diesel programs in New England.  “Companies like Boyle Transportation make me proud to be an advocate for freight.  We need trucks and trains and ships to bring us the things we like to eat, wear and use, and the supplies we need if we’re sick, or at war, or to rebuild after a disaster.  Andrew and his company not only do this essential work for us, they do it in an environmentally progressive way.  Andrew and his colleagues at Boyle are the face of modern freight transportation. They’ve taken a risk and invested in cutting-edge technology for equipment and routing that saves fuel and emissions.  They take care to train & treat their drivers as professionals, and are rewarded with superior safety, efficiency, and loyalty.  SmartWay shippers want to hire carriers like Boyle to help shrink their carbon footprints, and Boyle makes it easy: their SmartWay scores for CO2 & criteria pollutants are top-drawer even though they haul sensitive cargo for demanding customers in the military and life sciences.”
Andrew Boyle said, “We’re honored to receive the EPA Environmental Merit Award.  We’ve made significant investments in low emission vehicles and idle reduction technologies.  More importantly, our people have embraced practices that reduce emissions and fuel consumption.  We remain committed to running an environmentally sustainable operation.”
EPA’s SmartWay program has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from freight transportation by almost 30 million tons over the last 10 years.  Boyle Transportation has been a SmartWay participant since 2008.
