Many carriers attempt to recruit drivers with slick, unrealistic recruiting campaigns and then wonder why their turnover rate is so high. Boyle Transportation seeks to engage in a long term, mutually beneficial employment relationship with qualified individuals. Once you’ve applied and qualified, we’ll put you in touch with one of our existing professional drivers to help you understand what the day-to-day life is like over the road with us.

We have been in business since 1971, and realize that mileage rates only make up a portion of the overall compensation package. Over the years, we have implemented other factors such as a guaranteed wage, layover pay, a per diem food allowance, stop pay, hourly detention pay, and an annual safety and performance bonus. Experienced professional drivers understand the value of this comprehensive compensation structure.

Another big factor in our retention is home time. Teams earn 2 days off for every week out (3 weeks out and 6 days off or 4 weeks out and 8 days off). The ability to take a week off after every trip provides an opportunity for our teams to recharge their batteries and return to work refreshed. A regional schedule (home on weekends) is available in some regions. A work-lifestyle balance is important for many people – review your earnings relative to the days you were available to work over the course of a year.

Guaranteed Wage
Boyle professional drivers are paid for their mileage and their time. Each team driver qualifies for a $150 Guaranteed Wage Monday through Friday. If your miles, stops and detention pay do not add up to at least $150, then the Guaranteed Wage kicks in.

Mileage Rates

During the first year of employment, team drivers are paid $0.21/mile each.

Layovers, Stops and Detention
On Saturdays, professional drivers earn either mileage, stops and detention or a layover rate of $88 – whichever is greater. Pickups and deliveries are paid $10 per person, and detention is paid at $10 per person per hour.

Per Diem
Professional drivers receive a $25 per diem food allowance for each day they are over the road. This amount is non-taxable and is loaded onto your expense account weekly. The per diem is not deducted from your mileage or payroll figures – rather, it is over and above any other compensation.

Performance Bonus
Each year, professional drivers receive a safety and performance scorecard. They are eligible to earn up to $0.02 per driver mile (divide team miles in half).

Qualifications
All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 2 years interstate driving experience or school + 1 year;
  • Commercial Drivers License with HazMat endorsement;
  • Clean motor vehicle record;
  • Qualify for a Government security clearance;
  • Pre-employment and random drug screening
